The Washington State University Board of Regents has approved a new Bachelor of Science major in Viticulture and Enology (V&E). The degree will be offered by Washington State University Tri-Cities (WSU-TC)and supported by Ste. Michelle Wine Estates WSU Wine Science Center and Albert Ravenholt Research and Teaching Vineyard.
Previously, students interested in the wine industry earned a degree in Integrated Plant Sciences. Students could choose to pursue the major on the Pullman or the Tri-Cities campus. Now, all students must finish at least the last two years of the degree at WSU-TC. V&E students will have many opportunities for internships at area wineries and vineyards.. Also, they will have access to research tools, specialized labs and the vineyards at the Wine Science Center and at the WSU Extension facility in Prosser.
