A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the Department of Horticulture. The position is based at the Washington State University Northwestern Washington Research and Extension Center (WSU NWREC) in Mount Vernon, WA. The project is focused on improving blueberry pollination by advancing knowledge regarding honey bee mediated pollination in these systems and building modern pollination-related decision support tools and recommendations.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be responsible for:
a) Assisting with and leading coordination, collection, and curation of pollination data in the Pacific Northwest, which will be collected from commercial fields, university research sites, and in greenhouses and labs;
b) Leading crop pollination modeling efforts with the project team based in Washington, Oregon, Michigan, and Florida (statistical consulting is available);
c) Authoring peer-reviewed journal articles, extension outputs (e.g. factsheets, website content, newsletter articles), and grant reports with the supervisor and project team;
d) Contributing to the delivery of project information at annual meetings, grower events, conferences, and workshops; and
e) Participating in project meetings and collaborating with other project team members to support the success of the overall project.
This is a temporary, part-time position with opportunity for full-time employment through additional grants. The initial appointment will be for 9 months. The 9-month position may be renewable depending on satisfactory performance and additional funding opportunities. The incumbent will work as part of the Small Fruit Horticulture program under the supervision of Dr. Lisa DeVetter at WSU NWREC (http://mtvernon.wsu.edu/).
