WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL
The Benton-Franklin Workforce Development Council (WDC) provides strategic planning, policy development, and oversight of federal employment and training funds through the Workforce Investment Act to support the Governor’s workforce development goals in Benton and Franklin counties.
Business services staff employed by the WDC will survey science and technology employers in the District for current and emerging skills sets needed to compete in a global market. Survey results will be directed to WSU Tri-Cities and Columbia Basin College staff, who will determine the appropriate course of training and education needed to meet employer expectations.
The WDC also maintains a database of trainees participating in the listed activities leading to employment in science and technology jobs and will track progress from the time they enter training and education activities to employment.
The key to a vibrant workforce is training and education that leads to good jobs. Both WSU and CBC have programs that open the right doors for jobs in the District. The Benton-Franklin WDC will continue to work with employers in the district to ensure that we understand the skills sets their companies need to maintain a competitive workforce.”Michelle Mann Executive Director Benton-Franklin Workforce Development Board
