District Vision > Master Plan

Welcome to the Tri-Cities Research District! We are a 1,700 acre research park located in Richland, Washington.  The district has five major property owners; Battelle who operates Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), the U.S. Department of Energy, Port of Benton, Washington State University , and a private developer. Our plan is to connect our land grant university, WSU Tri-Cities to PNNL’s campus creating one neighborhood that demonstrates clean energy technologies and further develops bioscience products and processes.  WSU Tri-Cities was recently named a Center of Excellence in Alternative Jet Fuels and Environment by the Federal Aviation Administration.  PNNL is the top employer in eastern Washington with over 4,200 employees doing work in homeland security, environment, computational sciences and energy.  TCRD offers over 325 acres of open property incorporated into a master plan creating a creative and inviting atmosphere so that students, faculty, researchers and companies can collaborate. The new Wine Science Center is scheduled to be open 2015 and connects with our regions rich agriculture business industries.  We work together to create, plan, and develop and we welcome you to join us!
